Advancing Livestock and Animal Husbandry

The Animal Production Department at Gwebi Agricultural College is dedicated to improving livestock production and animal husbandry practices. We provide students with the knowledge and skills to manage animal health, breeding, and production systems for sustainable agriculture.

Key Functions:

Animal Health and Welfare:

  •  Promoting animal health through disease prevention, vaccination, and proper nutrition.
  •  Ensuring the welfare of animals through ethical and sustainable farming practices.

Animal Breeding and Genetics:

  •  Improving livestock genetics through selective breeding and advanced reproductive technologies.
  •  Enhancing the productivity and quality of livestock for meat, milk, and other products.

Livestock Management:

  •  Training students in the management of dairy, beef, poultry, and small stock production systems.
  •  Implementing best practices for feeding, housing, and handling livestock.

Value Addition and Processing:

  •  Developing techniques for the processing and value addition of animal products such as meat, milk, and eggs.
  •  Promoting the production of high-quality, market-ready animal products.

Research and Innovation:

  •  Conducting research to address challenges in animal production and improve farming practices.
  •  Collaborating with industry partners to develop innovative solutions for sustainable livestock farming.
